Jinseul Park
Jinseul Park (b. 1997, Seoul) is a London-based artist whose practice explores Han(恨) – a uniquely Korean emotional condition shaped by unresolved sorrow, historical trauma, and resilience. She received her BA in Oriental Painting from Ewha Womans University and her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art.
Rooted in traditional Korean painting, Jinseul works with Hanji (Korean paper), ink, and traditional pigments, building layered, textured surfaces in bruised and muted tones. Her material approach reflects the suppressed and inherited emotional histories embedded within Han(恨).
In her recent works developed in the UK, she incorporates architectural structures constructed from Hanji alongside figures rendered in bruised hues. These immersive environments contemplate diaspora, intergenerational memory, and the tension between cultural heritage and contemporary identity.
