Event Introduction

In early summer 2025, K11 Art Mall in Guangzhou hosts She in Glass, a workshop that reimagines glass as more than a material: a surrogate for the body, a container of memory, and an echo chamber of social experience. Guided by London-based multidisciplinary artist Yujie Yang and cross-media artist and art-healing facilitator Sen Kwok, the workshop creates a space that is both studio and ritual — a place for collective making and inner awakening.

Through the practice of glass etching, participants are invited to inscribe personal narratives directly onto the surface of the material. What is often seen as cold, fragile, or transparent is here given warmth, weight, and resilience. Scratching, eroding, polishing — acts that seem destructive — become gestures of creation and repair, transforming glass into a metaphor for female subjectivity: fragile yet strong, invisible yet visible, always reflecting and refracting.

This is not a workshop about producing perfect objects, but about embracing process, spontaneity, and healing. She in Glass resonates with the feminist tradition of écriture féminine, affirming that artistic practice can be a language written through the body, a form of self-articulation that resists simplification.

Quiet yet insistent, the project reminds us that feminist art does not always need to be loud. Sometimes it exists like the glimmer on the edge of glass — subtle, transparent, and profoundly real.
