Works
Biography
Shunshun Qi’s painting practice engages with voyeuristic perspectives, intimate relationships, and hidden spaces of existence. Her work explores the multiple ways intimacy can be expressed in contemporary painting, particularly within the context of the post-pandemic era.
Water and the body are recurring motifs in her work, guiding the viewer into private and often concealed spaces, and drawing them closer to the figures within the paintings. Water functions as a symbol of nakedness, stillness, selfhood, and the natural, suggesting an internal tension between the individual and the external world.
