The KANE International Contemporary Art Prize is an international award established by K:art Studio to celebrate emerging and experimental artists from around the world. It recognises outstanding contemporary artworks that move, resonate, and connect across cultures, disciplines, and media.

 

All selected and awarded works will be presented through K:art Studio’s curated physical and online exhibitions, bringing together contemporary voices that explore diverse approaches to motion, resonance, and transformation in art today.

Submission Guidelines
  • Open to artists worldwide.

  • All mediums accepted: painting, photography, moving image, installation, sound, digital, and interdisciplinary practices.

  • All submitted works must be original and completed by the artist.

 Awards

Award funds will be provided with full flexibility for artists to use as they wish. All finalists and award winners will have their works presented in the online showcase curated by K:art Studio.

Jury Panel

Angel Qin — Director of K:art Studio, Visual Artist, Independent Curator

Angel Qin is a London-based artist and curator whose interdisciplinary practice spans moving image, performance, digital media, and fashion. She holds a BA in Film & Media Studies from the University of Rochester and an MA in Contemporary Art Practice (Moving Image) from the Royal College of Art.

Her work has been presented internationally, including at Tate Modern and London Art Fair, and featured in publications such as Frieze, Vogue Italia, and Aesthetica Magazine. As a curator, she has organised exhibitions across London, Paris, Beijing, and multiple cities in China, with research interests focused on multi-species encounters, cross-cultural dialogues, and material ecologies.

As a member of this year’s jury, she brings a perspective grounded in rigorous conceptual research, interdisciplinary methodologies, and an international understanding of contemporary visual culture.

Sonny Jake — Director of Hackney Gallery, Interdisciplinary Artist, Creative Director

Sonny Jake is a London-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, film, photography, clothing design, and performance. With a background rooted in a family of celebrated artists — Sonny’s work reflects a deep engagement with form, rhythm, and human experience across media.

Having worked as a filmmaker and editor at Boiler Room TV, he has produced hundreds of films and documentaries across Europe, exploring diverse social and cultural narratives. His visual language merges the materiality of fine art with the kinetic energy of moving image, drawing inspiration from everyday gestures and the textures of lived life.

As the director of The Hackney Gallery, Walters curates and exhibits work by emerging artists, fostering dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary experimentation. His practice continues to evolve through cross-disciplinary collaboration and a commitment to expanding the boundaries of visual storytelling.
